Care

Safety & storage

Our balms are oil-based and preservative-free. A little care keeps them fresh and safe to use.

Patch test (always)

Apply a small amount to clean skin on your inner arm or behind the ear. Wait 24–48 hours. If you notice redness, itching, or irritation, do not use the product elsewhere. Tallow is generally well tolerated, but everyone's skin is different — especially if you are sensitive to botanicals in our infused variants.

Storage

Store jars in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Keep the lid closed tightly between uses. Heat and UV can soften the balm and shorten its life. A bathroom cupboard or bedroom drawer is usually fine; avoid leaving jars in a hot car or windowsill.

Keep water out. This is anhydrous balm (no water in the formula). Introducing moisture from wet fingers or damp skin in the jar can encourage spoilage — scoop with clean, dry hands or a spatula.

Shelf life & freshness

Small-batch, oil-based balms typically stay at their best for about 6–12 months after opening when stored as above, depending on the batch and how often the jar is opened. Unopened jars generally last longer; refer to any period-after-opening guidance on your label when we print it.

If the smell becomes noticeably off, or the texture changes in a way that concerns you, discontinue use.

Batch codes

Each jar carries a batch or lot code (printed on the label or base) so we can trace it back to its render date and ingredients snapshot. If you ever have a question or concern about a specific jar, email us with that code and we can help.

Use as directed

For external use only. Not for consumption. Our products are cosmetic skincare — they are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. If you have a skin condition or concern, speak with a qualified professional.
