For patch testing, storage, shelf life, and batch codes in one place, see Safety & storage.
When will my pre-order ship?
Pre-orders ship mid-May once our first production batch is complete. You'll receive a dispatch notification by email as soon as your order is on its way.
Will I be charged immediately?
Yes — payment is taken at checkout to secure your place in our first production run. This guarantees your jars are reserved from the batch.
Can I cancel or modify my pre-order?
Yes. Email us at rawtallow@gmail.com before dispatch and we'll process a full refund or make changes to your order. Once shipped, our standard returns policy applies.
What if the timeline changes?
We'll keep you informed by email if production timelines shift. Our priority is quality — we won't rush a batch to meet a date. In the unlikely event of a significant delay, you can cancel for a full refund.
Why are you offering pre-orders?
We handmake every jar in small batches using carefully sourced grass-fed tallow. Pre-orders let us gauge demand accurately and ensure each batch is made to the highest standard without overproduction or waste.
What is tallow?
Tallow is a traditional rendered fat, naturally rich in skin-supportive nutrients and highly compatible with the skin’s natural oils.
Why tallow?
Grass fed beef tallow is cleaner, richer, and more stable than regular mixed body fat, which makes it better for premium skincare.
Can I use it on my face?
Yes. It’s suitable for face, body, lips, hands, and dry areas.
Will it feel greasy?
A little goes a long way. Warm a small amount in your hands and apply lightly for a soft, nourished finish.
How long does a jar last once opened?
Oil-based balms are best within about 6–12 months after opening if stored cool and dry, with the lid closed. Exact timing can vary by batch — see our Safety & storage page for detail.
How should I store it?
Keep the jar in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, and use clean, dry hands (or a spatula) to avoid introducing water into the balm.
What is a batch code?
Each jar has a batch or lot code so we can trace it to its make date. If you have a question about a specific jar, email us with that code.
Do I need to patch test?
Yes — especially before using on your face or if you have sensitive skin. Apply a small amount to your inner arm, wait 24–48 hours, and check for irritation before wider use.
